The Silence Between Us

I hold my phone in silence,
watching the screen glow in the dark.
Every second feels like a storm,
yet her reply is a horizon I’ll never reach.

I type and erase,
words drowning in hesitation,
fearing they’ll fall heavy on a heart
that has already moved away from mine.

Love, for me, is waiting.
Love, for her, was passing.
She found her comfort in another smile,
while I learned to embrace the ache of absence.

Nights stretch longer than time itself,
filled with echoes of her laughter
and shadows of memories
that refuse to let me sleep.

Sometimes I wonder if she ever remembers me,
even as a fleeting thought in her busy day.
And if she does,
does her heart skip a beat,
or does it breathe in relief,
thankful that distance has built its walls?

My love still lingers in unspoken verses,
but her silence has already written the end.

Maybe I’m not the message she’s waiting for.
Maybe I’m the name she’s relieved not to see.!
